" Let's Amplify our Voices for SDGs Implementation in Bauchi'' says Coordinator

Youths in Bauchi State have been enjoined to contribute their quota in the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs in the state.

The Bauchi State Coordinator of Nigerian Sustainable Development Development Youths Network, Amina Mubarak Ahmad made this called on Saturday August 10 at the Conference Hall of Federal Secretariat Bauchi during SDGs Youths Dialogue.

The Dialogue has a theme Amplifying Youths Voices for SDGs which was organised to commemorate International Youths Day being celebrated August 12 every year in the world.

She said " The future is now, there need for us to rise up and amplify our voices to ensure that SDGs are being implemented in our communities, we can do that through advocacy campaign, holding our leaders accountable and utilse all avenues available at our desposals.



In addition we should not under estimate the power of media both traditional and new media, we should utilize them well to ensure that our mission accomplished''.


Meanwhile on his part the Founder of Bridge Connect and UNFPA Youth Advocate, Sani Muhammad frowned on leaders especially the political elites on how they are engaging youths in to political thuggery, violence and other mayhem in the society for selfish interest.

He further dwelled on problem facing education and poor health management in the country.



"The time has come for us the youths to hold our leaders at all levels of government accountable, because education sector is facing so many challenges right from the Primary up to the Tertiary level in which if we fold our arms just watching things will not change''


Also Speaking Mr John Daru from  Managing Partners of Divine Digital Entrepreneurship cautioned youths on implication of excessive competition rather than focusing on tangible goals for development, stressing that doing such creates multiple problems among the growing class of the society.

Participants were grouped into 6 groups according to 6 SDGs which are SDGs 2, 3, 4, 8, 13 and 16 were they discussed within themselves the challenges that  are being faced in the implementation of the SDGs in the state and came up with possible solutions to address the problem and the lesson they learned in the implementation of the SDGs and presented their work

During the Dialogue session a video messaged by the UN Youth Envoy was played which contains tue messages from different youths about the SDGs.

The event was attended by the Speaker of the Nigerian Youth Parliament Mubarak Mijiyawa, Advocates, Activists , various youths organizations within state and beyond.
