Kano Emirates Council Denies Turbaning Lagos Musician

The Kano Emirate Council has distanced the council from a report that it  confer the chieftaincy title of Sarkin wakan Kano on Korede Bello, a Lagos based musician.

The Chief of Staff of the council and  Dan Buram Kano, Alhaji Munir Sanusi,  made the clarification yesterday as reported by Daily Trust.
Reacting to reports that the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, had conferred the title on Bello, he said the emirate had no intention to that effect and had never engaged in any discussion with the musician in that respect.
It would be recalled that Falalu Dorayi, a Kannywood movie producer and director, had earlier expressed reservations over the purported conferment of the title, arguing that there were many Hausa singers in Kano who deserved the title.
