The Katsina state Executive council has approved for the award of contracts for the execution of various projects worth over five point six billion naira in the state.
The commissioner of Works, Housing and Transport, Engineer Tasi'u Dandagoro disclosed this during a press briefing held at the end of the meeting presided over by Governor Aminu Bello Masari on Wednesday.
Engineer Tasi'u Dandagoro announced that the projects include Kankiya-Dangamau-kusada road; upgrading and renovation of school of Health Technology, Kankiya; phase one and sub lot one of renovation and upgrading of Malumfashi General Hospital; the complete wall fencing of school of remedial and Basic studies,Funtua as well as upgrading of Funtua streetlights from solar to electric supply.
The commissioner noted that the projects include thirty nine rural feeder roads worth over two billion naira across the state.
He said the projects would improve the socio- economic wellbeing of the people in the state. Also speaking, the state commissioner of water resources, Alhaji Salisu Dandume disclosed that the executive council meeting was also briefed on the progress recorded in various water supply projects at both Ajiwa,Malumfashi and Funtua water works.
Alhaji Salisu Dandume announced that a consultant commissioned on Danja dam project had submitted a design, which was approved by the meeting and would be submitted to the state tenders board for subsequent award of the project.
He disclosed that at a recent meeting of rural water supply agencies, Katsina RUWASSA was rated as the best performing agencies among its peers in Nigeria, adding that the meeting was held in Ilorin of kwara state.
On his part, the special Adviser to the Governor on Employment and Vocational Training, Alhaji Hussaini Adamu karaduwa disclosed that for the first time, an indigene of Katsina had emerged the overall performing graduating cadet at Ikeja police cadet training college, Lagos.
He said the state also produced the third best performing graduating cadet as well as the best shot police cadet in the college.
Alhaji Hussaini karaduwa announced that the state governor had directed the employment directorate to be visiting paramilitary training institutions to overcome the drop out as a result of challenges facing the recruits.
The effort, he said had paid off as recruits were being provided with twenty to thirty thousand naira to encourage them to complete the trainings in the colleges.
