IYD 2019: Member NYP Bauchi Central Zone urges Govt to prioritize Education

Member Representing Bauchi Central in the Nigerian Youth Parliament, Engr Imrana Garba has called on government at levels to give priority to education.

In a statement signed by the member on Monday while comemorating International Youths Day said giving priority to education sector will go  along way in reducing many challenges being faced by government at different levels.

" As today 12th August, we celebrate International Youths Day, government at all levels should give priority to education through increasing it's budgetry provisions, training and re- training of teachers, provisions of teaching aids, increase welfare and renumerations for teachers among other things''

He stressed the need for youths engagements in quest for Nigeria to increase access to safe, quality education for all by the year 2030 as targeted by United Nations.

"The there is urgent need to engage our youths in creating awareness and advocacy campaign so as tap their talents in the area of increasing access to safe, quality education for all as contained in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in goal 4. Here in Nigeria if our youths will be allow to work hand-in hand with stakeholders in the education sector our targets can be realised"


Garba further said'' International Youths Day is 20 years old since it's inception, this year's theme is Transforming Education and the new system of education that this modern generation should combine knowledge, life skills and critical thinking. It should include information on sustainability and climate change. And it should advance gender equality, human rights and a culture of peace".

He commended  the commitment of  Bauchi State Governor Bala Abdukadir Muhammad towards improving the standard of education in the state.

"We will like to use this medium to commend the efforts of His Excellency, Senator Bala Abdukadir Muhammad towards improving the standard of education in our dear state, recently he signed a commitment in that direction and his plan to recruit 100 female NCE graduates sponsored by UNICEF among other things are steps at the right direction''
